I had the same experience, but I think there's something odd about Bangkok Airways ticketing. For some reason a lot of travel agent aren't interested in handling them at all, or charge a higher price for doing so. There are a few agents around that do promote them, and you have to buy from them to get a good price. I remember I bought my BKK/PNH/BKK ticket from the agent on www.flights.com, and he was much cheaper than An-Chan and others had quoted. Bangkok Airways.
